So for some updates - Aimee will be 4 in June and is already busy planning her party and will talk about it with anyone that will listen. She wants a princess castle birthday cake, with princesses on it. LOTS of dress up stuff, and most importantly - princess dresses to wear. She also wants a big girl bike with training wheels... um... we will see!
The other day I was
In the mornings she will almost always ask me what I dreamt about and if I can't remember she gets mad. Hah. She constantly asks me what letter different words start with and quiz me on what sounds different letters make. She loves to color, paint, play Barbies, dress up, and help in the kitchen.
Jack is over 19 months old now - but you might not believe it. He's closer to the size of a 14 month old. I don't know what I'm going to do with him sometimes. He's quickly approaching the terrible-twos phase. I get a lot of "No!" responses from him these days. And a lot of throw-himself-on-the-ground melt downs. Oh and the carseat battle! It is the worst. If he's not in the mood, he fights like crazy! Back-arching, screaming, squirming... If I have time, I let him run around outside for a few minutes before I load him up in the car, hoping he gets it out of his system. He just loves loves LOVES being outside. (How I desperately want a backyard!!) Otherwise I try to bribe him with fruit snacks (horrible, I know). When he gets mad at Aimee he pulls her hair. When he gets really mad - he tries to bite. Ugh!! Aimee was never a biter - where did this come from?? I really don't know. I doubt we'll have to worry about him doing it to other kids though. He is SO shy around anyone but us. Nursery is not coming easy for him. At all.
Aimee had zero problem going. And Jack was okay the first 2 times I took him, but now he can't seem to make it through more than an hour. *Sigh* It's so weird to see him freeze up like that. I mean, it's like he's paralyzed with fear. It makes me feel so sad. He won't really play with the other kids, he just wants to sit in my lap. It's so weird to me because he's nothing like that at home, or at the homes I do preschool co-op with. I hope he gets more comfortable the more he goes.
I've said a lot of the "unpleasant" things about this phase Jack is in and I feel like I'm painting a bad picture. Despite his cranky moments, he really is a sweet guy. He gives kisses and will cuddle with me. He loves to read books, especially the Llama Llama and Pigeon series. The pigeon books are his favorite though. We read them enough that Aimee has them memorized. Occasionally I can get her to "read" them to him.
Jack talks a lot more now and will copy just about anything you ask him to. It doesn't always sound the clearest, but you can tell he's trying. He likes to say the prayer at dinner time. And he loves to sing and dance! Sometimes when I need the kids to burn off some energy we turn on the Pandora 80's station and Aimee and Jack shake their little booties.
As for me and Greg - doing good! This semester of law school will be over soon. Hooray!!! Still no concrete plans for what the summer will hold for us (as far as internships go), but I think we should have a better idea by the end of next month.
My belly is getting huge. I seriously look more like 7 months pregnant than 5. I kind of "popped" rather suddenly this time around. I suppose it had a lot to do with not throwing up anymore. I've heard that the more kids you have, the earlier you can feel the baby move. It's been true for me! I started feeling baby girl move a couple of weeks ago and I can already see her move outside my stomach sometimes. AND I have the occasional Braxton Hick contraction too. We get a lot of questions about what we are going to name her and I really haven't given it a ton of thought. I did a lot of thinking with the first two - I've still got time!
