What we love about Florida

A trip to the zoo with Auntie Whitney (Aimee started to get mad when we wouldn't let her touch the birds)

And Ana! (aka - Grandma, but don't call her that!)

The goats! (Aimee was truly fascinated)

Beach Day!

The sun!! And sun hats...

The sand!

Summer clothes!

Weird baby blue stroller built for midgets! (It was seriously short! - Thanks Airman's Attic)

Books, kitties, and doggies

So I thought while I have a moment I'd write some updates. Mostly about Aimee, of course. Right now we (minus Greg) are in Florida, hanging out with my mom and sister. Hurray for warm weather!! Hurray for family too! I don't know what it is with me, but lately every time I go to California or here, I end up getting some sort of nasty sickness. So I have been fully enjoying myself, except for this cold/cough thing. It is frustrating though... Aimee JUST got over being sick and now (thanks to me) her nose is running again and she's starting to cough a little. Ugh!!

Despite feeling a little lowsy, we've been seeing the sites and taking advantage of the nice weather. We've gone shopping, hung out at the beach, went to the zoo, out to eat... all that good stuff.

My mom has two cats and a dog. Aimee is in animal heaven. She is absolutely fascinated with the dog (Abby). She has even started saying "doggy" or "oggy" when she sees her. When Abby gets excited, she barks and we yell at her to stop. Aimee started shaking her finger at Abby too, to scold her. It's hilarious!

In addition to sporatically saying doggy (by the way, many of the animals at the zoo were doggies or kitties). Aimee will kind of say kitty. It sounds more like "iddy" or "idda" - but it's close.

Aimee is also really into books. A few weeks ago she started turning the pages when we read to her. She LOVES books with animals or babies. I made her a little book too, with pictures of things we have around the house, including some of her favorite people. She could sit and look at those books for a long time. Sometimes she freaks out if I put them away. Well, she pretty much freaks out any time I take something away from her that she likes.

I will post pictures of our adventure in Florida soon!

Aimee Crawling!

Sick, sad baby

It's so hard to keep up with the blog. I am not sure why... Oh wait, I have a busy 9 month old baby. That's why. PLUS I've been trying to get a ton of things done before we go to Florida. (Hooray!)

Anyway, a good chunk of last week was spent taking care of a sick little baby. There were multiple trips to the doctor's office, 4 sleepless nights in a row, and the verdict was that she probably had a sinus infection. Either way, she's been on the Amoxicilin(sp?) for almost a week now and she seems to be loads better!!

Here is a picture of her though, when she wasn't feeling so good. Poor thing. It was so sad! And tiring... She even lost a pound over a month's time. We are working to fatten her up. She has really lost interest in baby food, which is ok with me. I'll stop buying it. She likes vanilla yogurt, bananas, grapes, and Cheerios for breakfast. String cheese is another favorite. Oh, and Macaroni Grill's pasta. This girl likes her carbs. Just like her mommy!

You will miss it

The other night I was frustrated with Aimee. She won't sleep well unless I am laying right next to her... and sometimes not even then. Anyway, I had been holding her - (she was sleeping) I put her down (in our bed, like always) - and got up to go brush my teeth. She woke up crying, of course. Greg picked her up, but she kept crying until I finished brushing my teeth and came back in bed and held her. She went back to sleep almost right away - but I was feeling super exasperated I looked at Greg and said something like,
"Holy crap! Can't she stay asleep for more than 2 seconds without me holding her???"
Greg has some insightful moments now and then and he said to me, "Someday she won't want you to hold her at all... and you will miss it."

Hmmmm..... I know.

She is getting so big, so fast! She'll be 9 months old in 9 days! I think back to when she was brand new, and recall the feelings I had when I was frustrated then. Looking back, I sometimes ask myself, "What was the big deal? What was I so stressed out about?" I suppose I'll look back to this time in another 9 months and think the same thing.
