We are hit and miss with Aimee. Thankfully, I have not had a repeat of my last post's episode, but we are still far from a full nights sleep.
The latest battle with Aimee is getting her dressed in the mornings.
Yesterday I was trying to get us out the door to take her to the library for story time. I picked out an outfit for her. Shirt, no problem - but the pants are another story. They're just leggings, no zippers, no buttons, no annoying adjustable waist. But you'd think the insides were laced with needles. After a minor blow-up, we got the pants on. The shoes were another story. I think it took 20 minutes to get her into some shoes. I picked some out at first, without trying them on I get an immediate, "NO! I can't like those!" response.
Ok, fine. I pick out another pair. "NOOOOO!"
We go through every single pair of shoes she owns. She has an issue with all of them. Finally, she picks out some sandals that are too small. I don't even care at this point. I just want to get in the car and go.
I know other moms out there can relate. And really, it isn't all bad, all the time. There are just those days. And then there are those weeks that have too many of those days. This was one of those weeks.
I talk with my sister-in-law Laura about this every single day. Usually, more than once a day! And we have to laugh because we are both going through the exact same thing! And from the looks at the comments I get on some of my previous posts (and on facebook) this appears to be a universal experience!
In between the battles, I get little bits of fun-ness from my 2 and a 1/2 year old. (Ask her how old she is and she will tell you so.)
A bit of funness today. The sun was setting and the sky was bright pink and the sun a bright orange. Aimee looks out the window and says, "Mom! Look! Ans-ah-goyn-ah!"
Let me explain.
Aimee loves the Lion King song, Circle of Life. You all remember the very beginning right? The sun rises and the chanting part of the song starts. I looked it up online.
The song actually starts "Nants ingonyama" Well, she mixed up sunrise with sunset, but still - pretty close! And very silly.
Oh. And yesterday I made Aimee take a much needed nap. When she first woke up, eyes still blurry she said, "I can't go in there. I can't go in the witch's castle." She may have inherited my wacky dreams!
Now, time for the little fat man update. Well, little for sure. Not so fat these days! He had his 6 month appointment last week and is in the 25th percentile across the board. He's just under 26 inches long and weighs 15 1/2 lbs. He may be a midget like his dad until he graduates high
school. But that's ok, we love him still.
He is very easy to love too! He sleeps pretty dang well - we have had a few random rough nights, but that's because the poor little guy has just cut his first tooth. Bottom right.
I really need to take more pictures of that gummy smile before it's gone.
And he's finally rolling consistently! I knew he could, he did it when he was really young - but then he just stopped. He was totally content to just lay on his back whenever you put him on the floor. Lazy little man! For whatever reason, he's decided that he will roll the moment you lay him down. Which is making diaper changing more fun... :)
My favorite thing is when he laughs at Aimee. There are few things more satisfying to a mom than hearing your kids giggle and chuckle with each other.
Ok bloggies. That's it for the update today. Someday if I ever get our taxes and fafsa done, I have lots of video clips of the babies to post. Keep the comments coming, it's comforting to know we're all kind of in the same boat!

You are a very strong Mommy!! Ella was very much like that, but our hardest time hit us closer to 4, we didn't get very much drama at the 2yr stage. But at 4, its more difficult to wrestly clothes on them, especially when they want to wear their turqoise underwear under their see-through light pink princess dress, crown and earrings (and sneaking into my lipstick) with the princess sandles to boot...just to go to the grocery store! (she would even put her ruffly church socks on her hands like "princess gloves") I ended up giving in..what can you do, right?! Eventually she grew out of it, I carried a blanket with me to cover her bum when we would walk in, since it was see through and all! She got lots of compliments, and every time she gave me this look as if to say "come on mom, they like it! what's your problem!?"...oh, girls!
