California Love

Greg, Aimee, and I went to California the other week to spend some time with Greg's family. His brother Chris got home from his mission on the 24th. We drove down with Greg's parents - which went amazingly well!! We haven't ventured on a drive like that since Aimee was 2 months old and that drive was plain awful. I was worried - but thankfully Aimee was up half the night the day before and slept a TON on the drive down. We left just before 6 am and made excellent time. We did a longer stop at state line and found some good deals at the outlets (hooray).

I am more and more excited for each visit with Greg's siblings as Aimee gets older. It is SO fun to see her interact with her cousins. Especially her bff and cousin Addison. Those two are hilarious! The would chase (err.. crawl) each other around and giggle like crazy. Aimee loved her newest cousin Breanne too. Breanne is a super soft and cuddly 6 month old. Aimee would pat her head and try to give her kisses. It's so fun!

Anyway, we came down for the week and weekend. Greg had to fly out to Chicago for work, so Aimee and I stayed a few extra days. Sadly, she got some virus the last 2 days we were there, so that was kind of bummer and ruined some plans - but that happens every time we go on vacation, so I really should just expect it.

Here are some pics from the trip, minus this first one. I just wanted to post it because I think it's funny - this sleeping position is becoming increasingly popular.

Here we are at the Huntington Beach Surf Open. It was PACKED. And kind of like going to the fair, only everyone is mostly naked. Seriously - parents, please don't let your 14, 15 year old daughters purchase and wear skimpy bikinis. All these creepy old dudes stare at them. It's gross.

Some dude getting ready to shoot. Those guys had some CRAZY camera lenses (pl?) - I felt very amateurish with my little (but still wonderful) Sony.

Aimee surveying the water.

Yeah, I really wish we had worn swimsuits!!

Note all the tents in the background

At last - Greg and I revisited an old friend: The Harbor House Cafe. They have the best milkshakes. I used to go here all the time back in the college days!! Ahh... the memories.

More Harbor House

Thank heaven for little girls. And for silly girls at that.

This picture is very special. If you look closely you will see the teeniest pony tail on top of Aimee's head. I didn't think it was possible but Carinn (sis in law) proved me wrong!! I was thrilled!!!

Here is Aimee with Nanny and Addison. Note Addison's 2 fabulous pony tails. Aimee - we have a long way to go.

Chris is home at last! He are ALL the boys - reunited.

And now for the girls, minus the little babies.

So Greg's 28th bday was extra special with Chris coming home. Greg's cake was actually two I' de Claires (sp?) from Claim Jumper. (Provo!! Why do you not have one of these????)

On Saturday we hung out at Laura's house and had an outdoor pizza oven party! It was SOOO tasty! Thank you Laura and Dave! (Here is Aimee eating grass or dirt)

Pizza oven tastiness. They cook in like 90 seconds!

The Brassfield Clan reunited.

Thank you Brassfields for the hospitality and food and good times. We will see you all again in August!
